Immigration Law Debates It's Not Heard If It's Not Said

Does Arizona Immigration Law imply fight with democrats and President Obama?

Posted on May 28, 2010

People can't stop discussing the controversial Arizona Immigration Law. America has not been used to the reactionary politics applied by Jan Brewer. But maybe it's high time to stop the constant abuse of American hospitality? The American society is split into two parts...and arguments of both hold water. People expect Obama to react. The President sends troops to guard Arizona borders however will it change Arizona firm stance? Or Arizona Immigration Law is a pure fight against acting President and Democrats rather than with the illegals?

  1. So, every undocumented person is Mexican? Only dark skinned people are here without papers? What about the light skinned Mexicans? What about all those people who speak English. Not even the president gets it – stand in line, pay a fine (but don’t work?), and learn English. What is he going to do with people who have been waiting 5 – 10 – 15 years for a Visa number? They applied legally. America needs immigrants – they really need to expand their gene pool. You can’t continue to marry your first cousins.

    • Oh Yes -you are so right-Mexico is basically land-locked and due to the economy- do many people actually immigrate to Mexico? I live and work within 25 miles of the Aqua Prieta border and have many friends that are Mexican. I get so lost when I am with them they meet someone and then they attempt to describe the relationship to me–they are married to the uncle’s cousin, who is also related to their other aunt, and their father is married to their cousin, etc.—I just throw up my hands and tell them—OK I get it—everyone is related to each other!! And at a Mexican wedding-forget it! You just smile at everyone and find a way not to use a name! You should go to Wal-mart and announce for Ms.-Mrs.—Rodriguez,or Garcia, or Lopez, or Rios, or Martinez, etc to report to the service desk and see how many different people come running!! Watch out for the stampede!

Oops!—You were indicating that the U.S. needs to expand the gene pool? Oh so sorry—

Might be a good time for you to check the legal immigration records of who entered the country legally—like in New York, etc.

    • Limited gene pool? We should get to choose who those immigrants are. We should be able to decide on teh flavoring of the stew. Mexico marries their first cousins and we get those offspring.

  2. The fact is that it isn’t really illegal immigration that has Arizonans upset, it’s the crime; and especially the crime in the border area. The governor couldn’t get the Administration to budge in helping with enforcement, and let’s face it, criminals and smugglers are not a voting block with much clout. But once you puncture the balloon of the the sacred cow of ‘immigration’. That’s when you get the White House’s and the Democrats’ attention. Obama knows that, that’s why he’s sending the Guard to the border and why they won’t enforce immigration laws.

  3. So I came to this country 13 years ago illegaly. Resons?many among them my own safety. Learned the language and believe it or not although as an illegal, respected the local laws, paid taxes, paid for my health insurance. Maybe the only thing I got for free was my education in a public school. I worked my butt off in a multinational company and made my way up to a management position. Love this country with all my heart and cannot imagine my life out of here. After a very long and stressfull proccess got my documents and not thru “illegal ways” like fake mariages or anything like that. What I think about AZ law? I think is the voice of the people desperate calling for the attention of the goverment that cares more about political parties than the well being of it’s people. Pandora’s box has been open and there’s not way to keep ignoring it anymore. Deporting all illegals I don’t think is the solution but knowing who is here, why and if they deserve it is another story. Secure the borders. Race Profiling is always been out there and will always be. for good or bad I think is the nature of this Big melting pot. Not every illegal immigrant is brown like me and not every brown person is here to commit crimes. The boycott should be directed to DC for it’s lack of action on taken control on this matter. P.S please be kind on your replies

On the other hand, you still broke the law, BUT, many laws are broken daily. • I agree about boycotting DC…and I’m from the DC area! I believe that many illegal immigrants, unlike you, are not interested in becoming US citizens. They want to come to “the land of the free” (be that free schooling, free government money, free medical care, etc.) and take advantage of the benefits, but they do now, and always will, consider themselves as citizens of whatever country they came here from. My mother came here when she married my dad after WWII. Back then, the vast majority of immigrants wanted to be “American.” Sadly, that is no longer the case with most. And with no enforcement of our immigration laws or visa expiration dates, they can do just what they want…whether their intentions are good or evil.

  4. Shame on everyone who is trying to stop Arizona from defending itself. If it were up to me I would do a mass deportation of every illegal in this country and replace every one of them with an equal number of people from every country who has been doing everything legally to try and come here. These people would contribute to society, not leech off of everyone. The law may lead to racial profiling a little bit but there is no other way to deal with the problem. The worst thing that can happen is a legal citizen or resident gets detained for a few minutes while the officer makes a phone call. Not a big deal. Just carry your id or whatever proof you need and get over it. Immigration is what has made this country great but illegal immigration is one of the worst. Why should people from one country get a free ride because we share a border with them. I’m not saying that every illegal is hispanic but obviously that’s the majority. God bless Arizona.

  5. I live 5o miles away from the border. It has become a war zone, the desert is littered with thousands of tons of trash, clothing, abandoned cars, guns and even dead people. We need this to stop. No one dies coming across legally, no one gets raped and abused and kidnapped coming across legally. Stop exploiting these illegal immigrants. Close the border down now!!! And for all our sakes do not give the ones that are here amnesty, because a flood of people will just follow. People that don’t live in this state have not a clue. The welfare fraud, housing and medical along with education that the state provides is killing this state. We owe it to the legal citizens of this state to stop this insanity. And no, I am not racist. I use to go to Mexico and always followed their laws, I expect them to do the same.

  8. THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM:
    1. The Mexican government doesn’t look to creating jobs to keep their people in Mexico, and when people leave to the U.S. they send millions back home. Win win for Mexico, they don’t have to take care of these people and millions get pumped into the Mexican economy.

    2. Corporate America calls to Mexico, with a very loud voice, \Hey amigos, come work for me, I have a lot of work and I know you are very cheap. Who cares about the risk involved, come get your American dream, I will pay you in DOLARES!!!\

    3. The U.S. government is in bed with Corporate America. Therefore the U.S. government doesn’t attack Corporate America, they go after the illegals. Sheriff Joe, his posse, and soon, the Arizona police, all go after the illegal, who’s just answering the invitation from Corporate America.

U.S. population is 300million, 1.7% is on welfare so that equals 5.1 million Americans. There are supposedly 12 millions illegals, lets assume 5% of them are on welfare, that equals .6 million. Why not just deport those 5.1 million \leechers\? Why is there no national focus on those 5.1 million American citizens? I mean if you are really concerned about people getting a free ride.

The reasons for this are many, language, health, criminal back ground, etc. A country needs to control migration. Isn’t that what the I.N.S. has been trying to do since the beginning?
Now that Illegal immigration is so out of hand and the U.S. government has done very little to control this problem Arizona and 70% of U.S. citizens want something done about it! The cost goes way deeper into U.S. tax payer pocket than just the cost of welfare!

The law is not racist. Any law can be enforced improperly. That is why the police are not the judges. The police enforce the laws as they are written. If there is an issue to the method in which the officer executed his power, it will be called in to question during the defendant’s day in court, and the officer will have to face the music just like any of us. And it is untrue about papers. When I get pulled over, a cop ask me for my papers (driver’s license) . I always carry it, because that is the law and I follow the law.

Hispanics, both legal and illegal are more likely to get caught with identity and without insurance. Another law breaking issue.

This law only targets a certain group of people, like the african americans that were asked to see their freedom papers. Im a US citizen, however im latino. I have a bigger chance of being pulled over under a flimsy excuse and then being asked about my immigration status. Everyone is saying that racial profiling will not happen…well thats only wishful thinking, racial profiling does happen. we are putting too much trust on the police, the policemen are human and make mistakes. only in the spanish news does one hear about the several policemen that mistreat the immigrants, i dont think alot of people get to see these injustices and therefore think that mistreatment of immigrants will not happen. I have a great respect for the police, they protect us while putting their lives on the lines for us all, but again there are those…

My question is, how the hell does someone who doesn’t speak the language of this country become a citizen? That pisses me off. I also heard that it is very hard to get a job now days if you don’t speak Spanish. I think it is good if someone is bilingual but not being able to get a job because you can’t speak Spanish is bull****. I would be embarrassed to not know the language of the country I live in. Most of these illegals come here with no desire to become an American. They just want to turn the US into an extension of Mexico. It drives me crazy.

  18. You don’t have to be able to speak English to live or be in the U.S. legally! You can be a LEGAL immigrant residing in the U.S. You do have to be able to speak English to become a U.S. citizen. Your comment just proves why this SB 1070 law can invite racial profiling. Immigration is a very complicated issue. There are people in the U.S. who are here legally but not necessarily U.S. citizens (e.g.: legal permanent residents, working visitors, students, tourists, etc.) These are the people that will suffer most from this SB 1070 insane law. Let’s say a legal permanent resident who immigrated from Mexico accidentally ran a stop light. He speaks English w/ a heavy Spanish accent. He gets pulled over by a cop. His only ID on him is his drivers license (which is what most of us carry). The cop suspects he may be illegal since he fits the profile of what the cop sees in his head as an \illegal immigrant\ so he demands the guy to show his \papers.\ Well, the only \papers\ that will actually prove he is here legally is his green card. Legal immigrants typically do not carry this ID with them while travelling within the U.S. borders because if it gets lost or stolen it is VERY difficult to replace. It’s not like he can just go to his SS office or DMV office to get a new SS card or driver’s license. So now he is detained and possibly jailed because he has no green card on him. OK…so I say ..great. If AZ wants to do this then when a cop pulls over a white guy, the cop should also ask the white guy to prove he is in the U.S. legally. I bet most cops will NOT ask to see \papers\ from a white guy who speaks English fluently w/ no accent. And if this white guy was born in the U.S., this means he would have to carry his birth certificate around w/ him to prove that he has legal status in the U.S. because this is the only document that will prove to the cop where he was born since he is not an immigrant. Get it? How many Americans born in the U.S. actually carry their birth certificate around them? I bet not many. And I bet if SB 1070 says cops have to ask EVERYONE they pull over or stop (not just the ones they reasonably suspect) for prove of legal status, more people will oppose this SB 1070 law. I don’t care if they make people prove their legal status in the U.S. But if they do, they better ask EVERYONE, not just those they \reasonably suspect\ are here illegally.

Interestingly enough, he’s already REQUIRED to carry that by federal law.

“So now he is detained and possibly jailed because he has no green card on him.”
Or, more likely, the cop asks for his name and address, calls it in, and verifies his legal status.

“How many Americans born in the U.S. actually carry their birth certificate around them? I bet not many.”

The problem is that some states, such as New Mexico, allows non-citizens the privilege of getting a NM driver’s license. We allow illegal immigrants the same privileges which we grant to our citizens but we do not expect them to shoulder the same responsibilities.

    • Lets say a Somali terrorist who has changed his surname to reflect a hispanic surname enters the U.S. illegally from Mexico. The cops stop him for running a red light. He does not have a driver’s license or a green card. He speaks with an unidentifiable accent. The cop does not want to be accused of racial profiling so he lets him go with a warning. The guy has now broken mulitple laws. Why should he be concerned about our laws as he loads his backpack with explosives and heads to your kid’s school.

24 hours later – your kid is dead and so is the terrorist. At least no racial profiling occurred. So whatever happened to the right of this country to defend its sovereignty and its citizens. Hispanics have a culture of corruption and violence. Just like the Middle East. Do you want more of that?

Being under pressure by the US and for other reasons, the Mexican border happens to be our first line of defense.

Unless the Somali guys speaks perfect Spanish, etc. he will stick like a sore thumb, and be promptly caught before he reaches Our Golden Shores.

Mexico has become tired of being the bad guy on behalf of the US and they have made their laws less strict (Calderon told this to Wolf on CNN).

Let’s pray to God that Mexico takes good care of their border!

How about if we just invite the rest of the world to live here. They can stay at your place.

I’m not sure if that was rhetorical, but what’s your point?
If you were an anchor baby and under age wouldn’t you want to go back to Mexicoke with your parents? Conversely, if you were of age, and a legal US citizen wouldn’t you want to stay here, and work to get your parents to immigrate LEGALLY?
This country has nothing against LEGAL IMMIGRATION. It is ILLEGAL ALIENS, AND GIVING AMNESTY TO 14 TO 20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS WHERE WE DRAW THE LINE!

      • Ah, but that’s where your wrong. The people who are coming here illegally are not soldiers in the classic sense because they wear no uniform (like the Taliban and Al Quida and the North Vietnamese but they are invaders and, possibly, spies for Mexico (if they came as Mexican citizens). What’s worse is that a lot of the illegals sneaking over our border came from other places, like the middle east. The government is supposed to be protecting us against invaders both foreign and domestic but they’re not doing it. That’s why the sovereign state of Arizona had to take action.

Many are murderers and low life scum. They are soldiers in the sense that they are trying to conquer a country by any means possible, in their case illegal drug trafficking, etc.

What do you expect them to do..TELL you what they are up to?? Wear a sign?? Wake up.

Mexico should take care of it’s own people. The US can not take care of the world. Our government is codependent, and trying damn hard to make it’s citizens codependent. Bullshit, come in legally or stay the hell out.

Make Carlos Slim and the Spanish Cartels responsible to the Citizens of Mexico. The MEXICAN government OWES all to it’s Citizens.
